Shavasana Gallery & Café will be open this weekend: Sat. Mar. 29 – Mon. Mar. 31

Just letting you all know that Nancy Wells will be running the Gallery Café this coming weekend. After a successful “trial run” last weekend, Nancy is returning with her delicious baked goods, hot fresh coffee, warm smile and inviting personality.

I’m delighted that Mayne Islanders will have another place to go on those Fall/Winter months when I am normally only able to open up once or twice per month. I know how important it is to have warm dry place to go to for a cup of java ☕️and fresh baked goodies🍪🧁. The added bonus, is a room filled with local art, and some sweet tunes on the playlist.🎶

Come on down & say hi to Nancy!😊

Cheers!

George

Shavasana Gallery & Café will be open this coming weekend – Sat. Mar. 22 until Mon. 24

We are trying something new at Shavasana Gallery & Café!

Nancy Wells, who has been baking most of the delicious goodies!😋, found at Shavasana for the past year is coming on board to open up the Gallery Café, during my slower season, when I am typically only over one weekend per month. As things tend to evolve organically at Shavasana, this is an experiment for both Nancy and I, to bring this warm, cozy & inviting space to Mayne Islanders on a more regular, or semi-regular basis, between October and May, before I begin my regular weekly schedule. Nancy is very creative with her selection of baked goodies so come on down and see what’s on offer!

From the photos: Date Squares, Butter Tarts, Orange Coffee Cake, Sesame Bagels, Chocolate and Walnut Dunkers, Cranberry Orange Squares (and other items not pictured: Peanut Butter & Chocolate Chip Cookies, Pear Cake, Cupcakes, and Oatmeal & Raisin Cookies) are but a few of the delicious goodies coming out of Nancy’s kitchen😋

Nancy will be there this coming weekend – Sat. March 22, Sun. 23, and Mon.24, with our usual hours of 9am – 4pm (except Sunday 10:15 – 4).

Please drop in to say hi to Nancy!

Cheers!

George

The Accidental Curator – Episode 20 – The Panic Attack

Here’s episode 20 of The Accidental Curator Podcast – The Panic Attack. Unlike my last two podcast posts, I chose not to use an Ai intro and have laboured intensely using actual thinkin’ power to come up with the compelling and gripping intro which follows:

“Ottawa, 1980’s – a young man, balancing his new wave musician aspirations with his soul-crushing job in the Federal Bureaucracy – has an unexpected epiphany of sorts via a Panic Attack.

Written with fondness for the era, friends, and situations he found himself in – George uses self-deprecatory humour to drive this fun journey through the pubs, bedrooms, and basement jams of his mid 20’s. While showing us some insights into the less heralded work as a Communications Officer at the Urea Formaldehyde Foam Insulation Centre, in our nations capital during the New Wave era.”

Shavasana Gallery & Café will be open next weekend – Sat. Mar. 15, Sunday, & Mon. Mar. 17

Daylight savings is here, lightness has arrived, and our days are getting longer! (and an excessive amount of rain, but what can you do?😆) I think we’ve definitely turned the corner on winter and are on the road to Springtime and all that the blessings that it brings.

My slower season is coming to an end, and I can feel nature and the Gallery Café getting ready to come back to life and bloom throughout the warmer brighter days ahead.🌻🌸

But let’s start with this coming weekend! Shavasana Gallery & Café will be open Sat. Mar. 15, Sun. Mar. 16 and Mon. Mar. 17 – 9am – 4pm (except for Sunday 10:15 – 4)

Typical Monday Afternoon Jam with Stephen Cropper on Vocals and Harmonica, Gail Noonan on Ukulele, Vocals & Bass, Bill Maylone – Vocals & Guitar, David Chase on Djembe, Gary Bradfield on Viola, Liam Bender on Guitar & Vocals, and special guest Ryan Dahle on Bass Acoustic Guitar (and myself, your humble photographer on Guitar & Vocals & Puns)
