“Island Eclectic”

After 10 years in business, Shavasana Gallery & Café has evolved into a two-season cycle –  the “Open” season from May through October, and the slower/intermittent season throughout the winter months into early Spring. The Open season consists of scheduled Art Shows of local and regional artists, with art hangings & take downs and Opening Receptions. It’s the time of advertising, invitations, catering decisions and – hopefully – sales. The Fall/Winter slower season arrived several winters ago when I realized that business was just too slow to remain open, and that my time would be better spent either travelling or working on my creative process.

So, I’m delighted to announce that my busier “Summer Season” has started! It’s May 1 as I write this and I’m just gearing up to re-open Shavasana Gallery & Cafe this coming weekend (May 4) and invite friends and off-islanders into my little biz for coffee, treats & art.

I’m doing things a little differently this year, rather than have 1 artist for 1 month (rinse & repeat) I’ve invited 9 of Mayne Island most talented creatives to show with me all summer long – giving them free reign to change their shows as they see fit. Here are just a few of the 30+ pieces we currently have on our walls:

The current show, 9 of Mayne Islands most talented artists, in no particular order: Bill Maylone, Linda Church, Ranjeet Dhaliwal, Dell Maxwell, Stephen Cropper, Tina Farmilo, Jodie Waldie, Famous Empty Sky, and Robbin Yager (and I’ve thrown in a few of my pieces in an act of unabashed self-promotion🤣)

Here’s a walkthrough of the current exhibit, “Island Eclectic” showing the fabulous talent of the 10 artists currently on display

We are intending on having a “Meet And Greet the Artists” night on June 14 – details of which will be announced on Social Media sometime in early June. Hope you can make it!

Cheers!
